[Money Mindset Challenge] Day 6 – The Truth About Sowing and Reaping

By Ann Rusnak 1 Comment
bamboo tree

Changing your mindset often leads to frustration because it appears the changes don’t happen fast enough.

I remember when I finished the recovery process of getting my abusive childhood memories back. After the healing of my inner self, I expected the world to become all sunshine and lollipops and everything would magically fall into place… NOT

I kept saying to myself; "I went through all this ‘stuff’ and my life isn’t any better. What gives?"

One of the reasons for this lag in results we explored on Day 4 – Your Constant Companion. Your current habits support your current money mind set.

There is another factor that governs the progress of our results… The universal law of Sowing and Reaping.

We often relate this law to farming when in actually it applies to every area of your life. This universal cannot be broken.

There is a season for sowing when you plant the "seeds."

There is a season for growing. Where the water, fertilizer, sun and soil nurture the planted seeds. This is the season of time and effort… period of waiting for the results of the seeds planted.

There is a season for reaping. Harvest time where you enjoy the fruits of your labors.

You cannot arrange the order of this law… Sow… Grow… Reap.

Another part of this law… You reap what you sow. If you want corn, you must plant corn seeds.

Now for the good news. While you can’t rearrange the order of the law, you can always plant new seeds. Up until now, you experience the harvest from the negative money belief seeds planted in your past.

You  planted new positive money mind set seeds when you began this challenge. It will take time for those new thoughts to take root and grow.

It’s during the growing season, we become frustrated and discouraged because it seems like nothing is happening. Those new thoughts may be like the bamboo tree. This tree doesn’t show any evidence of growth during the first four years.

The fifth year magic happens. The bamboo tree begins to grow and grow. It will average about three feet a day until six weeks later it reaches a staggering 90 feet in height.

Changing your money mindset is a lot like the bamboo tree. It can be very discouraging and tiring when you don’t see results right away from your hard work.

You don’t know the length of your growing season – but if you refuse to give up and continue to water, fertilize and nurture your new money thoughts – the reward for your efforts will follow.

Dreams Don’t Come With An Expiration Date

By Ann Rusnak 1 Comment

The actualizing of our potential can become the most exciting adventure of our lifetime. ~Herbert Otto

Let’s face it… sometimes you may feel down and wonder if your dreams will ever happen. When this happens to me, I find watching Susan Boyle’s video very inspiring.

Who is Susan Boyle?

Susan Boyle

About a year ago this unknown person created a huge sensation at her audition on Britain’s Got Talent TV show. Her performance stunned the audience and the cynical judges.

Susan came into the world deprived of oxygen at her birth. This cause mild brain damage and learning disabilities for. Her classmates often made her the butt of jokes, bullied and teased her because she was slow and not very attractive.

She would find solace in music at an early age. At age 12 she began performing in school productions. Her teachers recognized her talent and encouraged her to continuing performing.

Susan’s mother was her biggest fan. She supported her daughter’s dream to become a professional singer. Susan sang at local venues and won local singing competitions.

In 1995, she auditioned for the U.K. televised talent show, My Kind of People, and got rejected. She continued to sing at local churches, hotel lounges and local competitions.

Susan kept dreaming of the day when the world would recognize her talent. Encouraged by her mother, she used her savings in 1999 to pay for a professionally cut demo tape. She sent the demo to record companies, radio talent competitions, local and national TV.

She made several amateur recordings for benefits and local performances, but seemed resigned to only local notoriety. To help improve her chances for fame, she took taking singing lessons from voice coach Fred O’Neil.

Susan’s mother said she should enter Britain’s Got Talent, a TV program, they both watched together. She told Susan she believed she would win. Susan’s mother would not live to see her daughter perform on Britain’s Got Talent. She auditioned for the program as a final tribute to her mother.

Susan would win second place but her talent received the recognition she desired.

Dreams do not have an expiry date
and I am thrilled to still be living mine

The 48-year-old churchgoing celebrity recorded her first CD "I Dreamed a Dream." It broke Billboard 200 records by selling 701,000 copies sold in its first week—the best sales frame for an album in 2009.

Susan Boyle made #1 on the Billboard charts with her album. She holds the record this year for the biggest first-week sales of any album and the largest ever sales debut for a female artist. Impressive!!! She would stay #1 for six week.

When asked if she sometimes wished that she had not left Blackburn and had kept her life simple – Susan responds with definite NO!

In a recent interview Susan said "dreams do not have an expiry date – and I am thrilled to still be living mine."

BTW… I find Susan’s CD very inspiring especially the song "Who I was born to be."

You too can realize your dreams. All you need to do is discover your true inner M.E. The Magical Essence that makes you unique. Your inner M.E. is meant to shine, meant to sparkle and achieve great things just like Susan. The Power of Persistence

By Ann Rusnak Leave a Comment
persistence

Nearly everyone who develops an idea works it until it looks impossible and then gets discouraged. That’s not the place to become discouraged.

It is often at this point that many only see the obstacle and no longer sees their idea.

They give into discouragement, opposition and obstacles. Not knowing a breakthrough was on the horizon. If only they were persistent.

The dictionary defines persistent as: to continue firmly or obstinately. Persistence is a state of mind.

In the words of Thomas Edison, "Just because something doesn’t do what you planned it to do doesn’t mean it’s useless…. Reverses should be an incentive to great accomplishment. Results? Why, man, I have gotten lots of results! If I find 10,000 ways something won’t work, I haven’t failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is just one more step forward…. There are no rules here, we’re just trying to accomplish something."

Thomas Edison had boasted he would invent a safe, mild, and inexpensive electric light. After spending $40,000, and performing 1200 experiments, he succeeded.

What if he quit at 1199? We would all be sitting in the dark!

You’ll have obstacles before you can have success. Even the dictionary puts the word obstacle before success.

Obstacles are there to strengthen you and offer progressive measurement of your growing strength. Discouragement sets in when you misunderstand the purpose of struggles and obstacles. Dwelling on struggles, can cause you to question your goals and the faith to believe in yourself. This leads to self doubt. When you allow self doubt to creep in you become susceptible to the fear of criticism. Criticism will stop you from pursuing your ideas and dreams.

Persistence is a conscious decision. You can train yourself to be a persistent person.

Napoleon Hill gives eight factors that persistence is based upon:

  1. Definite purpose – know what you want.
  2. Desire
  3. Self-reliance -the belief to carry out your plan
  4. Definite plans – written organized plan.
  5. Accurate knowledge – knowing your plan is sound.
  6. Cooperation – being with others who will help you develop persistence.
  7. Will power – concentrate your thoughts on obtaining your goals.
  8. Habit – persistence is a habit that can be consciously developed.

How to Develop Persistence

1. Have a definite purpose backed up with a strong desire to obtain it. Write it down.

2. Have a plan of action. How are you going to make it happen. What do you need to do.

3. Close your mind to negativity and discouraging influences. Self talk can be the most damaging. Watch which were saying to yourself.

4. Develop a group of people who will encourage you but also hold you accountable to follow through on your actions.

Winston Churchill gave a speech over 60 years ago on Oct. 29th. These words are still applicable today. "Never give in–never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yielded to force; never yielded to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

Believe in yourself. Believe in your goals. Stay focused. Never change your goal-just your plans, replace the plan if necessary, but not your goal.

Persistence must become a way of life if you want to succeed. By learning to overcome problems and barriers, you can become a tremendous person.
